In my thesis, I tried to combine a socio-historical and philological approach to deal with the literary situation in late medieval Nürnberg. The edition of the literary work of Johannes Vorster, one of the town clerks, who re-wrote, illustrated and commented on one of the most influential didactic works of South Germany, the ›Renner‹ of Hugo von Trimberg, not only gives an hitherto unknown version of the text but also an insight into text-production around 1425.
