Notes: Sweetly Sloping Hills was the culmination of work made during a 3 month residency at Harewood House. All of the works shown, (paintings & photographs), were made in response to the layered history of the house and grounds. These works were essentially site-specific, in which the viewer was invited to match the 'real' with the constructed images on show in the gallery. The work addressed how aspects of the past are re-interpreted in the context of a museum environment. The project was supported by Year of the Artist, The Rootstein Hopkins Foundation, Harewood house Trust and Sheffield Hallam University. The residency and exhibition were covered by, The Independent, The Guardian, Yorkshire Evening Post, AN Visual Arts, Artscene, The Leeds Guide, Yorkshire Life, North Leeds Weekly Post, Year of the Artist Magazine, BBC Radio North and Yorkshire Television.
