Abstract

The project described by this document involves the investigation of a new form of general pirpose MIMD (multi-instruction-multi data streaam) computer architecture and programming language, in which programs are regarded as implicitly parallel and serialism has to be indicated explicitly. This investigation centres on two forms of program representation, the machine level ""generalised control flow"" (GCF) computer organisation and the language level ""structured directed graph"" (SDG) user programming language. The document illustrates these two forms of program representation by presenting a description of a GCF computer architecture and a SDF programming language. A status report and objectives for the project are also briefly presented
