Abstract

In a concurrent processing environment consisting of N-Modular Redundant (NMR) nodes communicating by message passing, exceptions which require detection and treatment to prevent subsequent failures are identified . These exceptions include 'sequence exceptions' caused by 'out of order' message processing and 'hardware exceptions' caused by pocessor failures. In particular, the paper descrbes standard and exceptional domains for majority voters and presents implementation strategies for the detection and handling of the discussed exceptions.
