Abstract

This paper present a discrete model for the sensitivity and optimization analysis with capability to calculate moderately thick, multi layered, angle-ply laminated plate. The model is based on triangular plate-shell element, using Ganef triangle for membrane effects and the Argyris triangle for bending, with inclusion of a trigonometric function for the transverse shear. Uncertainty in a number of the model input variables is introduced, with their effects quantified using FORM. An optimisation problem is defined to find the orientation angles of the composite fibres that yield the maximum system reliability.
