This book presents and introductory study (15,000 words) about the Education reform run by the Military regime in 1968, and an anthology of texts (200 pages) representative of the period. This includes a selection of official documents, newspaper articles, and writings by the main mentors of the Educational reform project, together with texts representative of the pedagogical approaches and ideological debates about education of the time. The study offers a novel analysis of the reform in the light of discussions about development in post colonial studies; it includes original research material I have not used before such as my research on the influence that UK and US radical pedagogy from the 60s and 70s had in the renovation of educational discourses and projects in Latin America. It concludes with a reflection on the pertinence of revising previous state educational projects after twenty years of the failed education reform implemented in Latin America during the neoliberal reform of the state.

Notes: This is a commissioned text I am writing for volume 12 a collection of 14 books dedicated to the history of education in Peru. After the publication of my book (2011) I have been invited by the editorial committee of this collection, formed by historian Professor Manuel Burga, former director of Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Professor Jorge Capella, former head of the School of Education at the Universidad Catolica del Peru, and member of the National Education Council, and two other distinguished academics (a philosopher of education and a historian) and the head of research and education of the Teachers Union in Peru (the teachers building society is funding the publication). The first draft will be sent by the end of October, the editorial committee will evaluate the text and volumes will be published one each month starting in January. Mine should be published in December 2012, including results of review by editors.
