Notes: Geophysicists worldwide attempt to correlate annual and semi-annual signals in GPS height time series with geophysical processes. However, this paper introduced the concept of how when ocean tide loading displacement is mismodelled, artificial (data processing artefact) annual and semi-annual effects will always be present in GPS height time series simply due to the inherent GPS system design.
