The article agrees with critics of pornography that its production involves instances of moral wrongdoing. However, the author does not see that as in and of itself good reason to prohibit or restrict the exchange of pornographic materials. By proposing an analogy with between other aesthetic works which involve instances of moral wrongdoing, the paper considers the following two claims: (1) morally undesirable behaviour is necessary for the production of pornography; and (2) the aesthetic value of a particular pornographic object matters more than the morally undesirable behaviour involved in its production.
