A single-phase shunt active power filter for a selected order of harmonic is presented in this paper. Voltage-fed inverter with a large storage capacitor is formed the filter circuit, IGBTs switches are used to construct the inverter circuit, the proposed filter is designed to prevent the affect of 3rd, 5th, and 7th order of harmonics. The essential advantage of this method is injecting certain harmonics with needless to the reference signal, which tremendously reduces the number of filter components and the complexity of the circuit. Fast Fourier Transformer (FFT) algorithm is employed to determine the magnitude and the phase of the harmonic needed to be eliminated. Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique is introduced to control the phase and magnitude of the inverter output. The simulation results using PSPICE software package are shown to validate the proposed technique.
