Abstract

Abstract—Several previous studies have suggested methodsfor predicting change-proneness based on software complexitymetrics. We hypothesise that data from the early stages of adevelopment project such as requirements and design couldalso be used to make such predictions. We define here a setof new metrics to capture data from the requirements and/ordesign stages, and derive values for these metrics using a casestudy project. We do find that significant differences in changepronenesscan be detected between components with high orwith low values for our metrics, suggesting that this is an areawhich would benefit from further study.
