Abstract

What constitutes entrepreneurship and defines an entrepreneur? There are several different versions. The existing literature separates at least five categories of entrepreneuring. The approach adopted by Shane and Venkatraman is the starting point in this paper. The author then develops an analogy from physics which sets out an inclusive view of entrepreneurship. The suggestion is that everyone has an entrepreneurial propensity, which is only translated into actions, i.e., entrepreneurship, when environmental conditions favour such behaviour.
