Abstract

The Marginalia Machine is a drawing machine which reproduces editorial notes from an archive of contemporary poetry. As new documents are digitised, a computer programme separates the notes from the background text. The resulting notes are then drawn, publicly to a continuous paper scroll.The Marginalia Machine was produced as part of the AHRC funded ‘Poetics of the Archive: Creative and Community Engagement with the Bloodaxe Archive’ project. It was shown at Poetry International, Royal Festival Hall, London, 2014 and as part of Digital Design Weekend 2015 at the V&A
