Persephone is a project that describes the living interior of a worldship and its construction from soils. It is not a fictional proposition but a real project located within the Icarus Interstellar group's portfolio of work that proposes to construct an interstellar research platform in Earth's orbit in the next 100 years. This particular article discusses the construction of synthetic soils as an architectural investigation of living infrastructures that may enable the space to be inhabited differently with alternative impacts than the destructive outcomes we experience on Earth today and compares this with John Milton's Paradise lost through a series of images derived from synthetic soils produced by laboratory experiments.
