This paper considers the impact of load variation on the front-end converter of cascade Point of Load (PoL) power electronic systems. With the assistance of real-time system identification, the parameters of Point of Load converter are obtained. A new dual feedback adaptive control strategy is then proposed, whereby the duty cycle of the front-end converter is carefully regulated to achieve the required output voltage regulation. Compared to conventional PI control methods, the proposed adaptive technique offers significantly improved dynamic behaviour and robust voltage regulation. The proposed controller has particular advantages in parallel lane PoL systems.
