Abstract

We would like to thank Marchan-Lopez et al. for their letter following our recently published article [1]. They report another case of liver injury related to treatment with sofosbuvir and a NS5A inhibitor (ledipasvir) in a patient with hepatitis C and HIV coinfection. In both cases we described hepatic decompensation occurred within 3 weeks of commencing the antiviral therapy. It is interesting to note that their patient did not decompensate until 2 months after commencing therapy with the DAAs and also had symptoms of abdominal pain and vomiting with no alternative explanation.
