Abstract In 2014, we began working with Migrante International to bring our testimonial theatre play – Nanay – to the Philippines. We reflect upon a transcultural, decolonizing creative process that knocked us off script as we collectively improvised our way toward a community performance in which we looked to embed and resituate the play and issues within the context of the Philippines. We think through the possibility and friction of working across geopolitical histories, geographies of uneven development, different aesthetic forms, and within the conditions of intense precarity.
