© 2015 AIP Publishing LLC. This paper focuses on a steady free convection in the stagnation point region of a three-dimensional body that is immersed in a nanofluid. A kind of similarity transformations is used so that the governing equations describing the conservation of total mass, momentum, thermal energy, nanoparticles are reduced to a set of fully coupled ordinary differential equations. We proposed a novel numerical technique by combining the homotopy analysis method(HAM) with the finite difference method to solve this problem. Based on this technique, we obtain the solutions for those ODEs. The proposed method inherits the advantage of the homotopy analysis method to solve strong nonlinear problem, and it can greatly improve the computational efficiency of the homotopy analysis method.
