Abstract

In this paper, a vision of future traveller information systems (FTIS) is envisioned as linking to pervasive computing technologies. A newly invented technique, immersive video, is applied to investigate user perceptions of the envisaged FTIS and the impact on individual travel choices. The design and development of immersive video are presented in detail. Initial results suggest that although the demand for such vision of FTIS could be high, other travel demand management schemes must be considered as a coordinating tool to significantly influence individual mode choices.
