This paper introduces wireless structural health monitoring(SHM) technique for damage length detection and characterization in rail base of turnout switch rail. The theory and finite element method (FEM) for damage detection using guided wave are described, and then the experiment setup is introduced in detail. Simulation and experiment consider the mode information from rail base's cracks with different length. The results show the developed wireless configuration can identify the existence and cracks with different length.
