These performances explored the relationship and rivalry between three composers active in London during the 1720s: George Friedric Handel, Attilio Ariosti, and Giovanni Bononcini. We experimented with obbligato parts for violin, played by the orchestra leader, Stefano Montanari, and was the first project undertaken by the Orchestre de l'Opera de Lyon, using modern instruments but Baroque bows, an economical compromise which yielded unexpected results in terms of concentration, tuning, and orchestral colours.
