Abstract

The article examines the ambit of the 'Brussels regime', used by EU states to resolve jurisdictional matters. The narrative proceeds by way of exposition of rules themselves and the main decisions thereon emanating from the European Court of Justice and certain national courts. It confirms that the remit of the regime does not stop at Europe's external frontiers and can extend even into matters purported to be excluded from its gaze altogether such as arbitration.
