Abstract

This chapter charts the changing places, politics and bodies associated with gender and feminist geographies. We consider how place matters to the construction of knowledge by providing a brief outline of some existing research and literature. The first part, ‘Changing Places, Politics and Gender’, recognizes powerful, gendered geopolitical geographies across the globe. Second, we offer an overview of each part: Establishing Feminist Geographies; Placing Feminist Geographies; Engaging Feminist Geographies; and Doing Feminist Geographies. Connections and divergences between chapters are discussed. We close the chapter hopeful that this Handbook will have a crucial place in the ongoing attention to injustices and inequalities.
