I.Sicily: an epidoc corpus for ancient Sicily

Abstract

This paper introduces the EpiDoc corpus of inscriptions on stone for ancientSicily, I.Sicily. The project is one of the first attempts to generate a substantialregional corpus in EpiDoc. The project is confronting a number of challengesthat may be of wider interest to the digital epigraphy community, includingthose of unique identifiers, linked data, museum collections, mapping, anddata conversion and integration, and these are briefly outlined in the paper.
