Abstract

The West Midlands VRU (WMVRU) is committed to supporting interventions that focus on the factors associated with violence and that take a preventative approach to addressing violence. The WMVRU has created a strategy and a list of outcomes for reducing violence in the region and the commissioned interventions play a key role in this strategy. Therefore, it is imperative that the interventions are situated to contribute to those outcomes. The aim of this report is to provide a structured review of the commissioned interventions and the monitoring data provided to the VRU through the various intervention projects. The findings of this review will help to provide overall recommendations about what information should be collected to measure the progress toward violence reduction. A secondary aim was to investigate the evidence-base and documented success of the types of interventions used within the various projects. Readers of this report should note that this report covers information received up until 24/07/20. The process of review will continue into Phase Two of the evaluation as more intervention documentation is provided to the evaluation team.
