The Newcastle University research output collection, currently available on ePrints, will shortly be moving to a new open repository platform, Figshare. To prepare for the data migration we have paused adding new content to ePrints, and will resume once the new repository is launched. During this time you will continue to have access to ePrints (but no new content will appear). We will share updates here when available.

Abstract

A 45 minute play broadcast on BBC Radio 4. Set on the day of the catastrophic flood event in Carlisle in 2005, the play uses a collage of voices to reflect on the act of witnessing an emergency, implicitly the climate emergency. The voice of the storm itself is Jacob Polley's version of an Old English riddle. Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger, and voices from archive radio material from 2005, also feature.
