Abstract

The Everest Death Zone: Mallory installation was suspended dramatically in the vast vertical space of the Tyne Bridge North Tower, on the North side of the iconic Newcastle bridge. The installation worked between a suspended fabric and metal piece, held up by mountaineering rope and carabiners, and projected film from the 1924 film 'The Epic of Everest', documenting George Mallory and Andrew Irvine's 'unsuccessful' attempt to summit the mountain.
