Abstract

© 2022 by the author. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland. Text Correction There was an error in the original publication [1]. The number of counties was incorrect (the number should be 775 instead of 777). A correction has been made to Abstract: Original: (3) Results: A total of 777 counties were found to comprise the “hurricane-prone coastal counties” that have experienced at least one instance of hurricane damage over the study period. Corrected: (3) Results: A total of 775 counties were found to comprise the “hurricane-prone coastal counties” that have experienced at least one instance of hurricane damage over the study period. A correction has been made to Section 3.2. At-Risk Populations in the Hurricane-Prone Coastal Counties, Paragraph 1: Original: Combining the spatial extent of hurricane-damaged areas of F0, F1, F2, and F3 winds (Figure 10a) and storm surges (Figure 10b), the spatial coverage of this study area consists of 777 counties over 22 states (Figure 10c). The list of coastal counties defined in this study is set out in Appendix A. Corrected: Combining the spatial extent of hurricane-damaged areas of F0, F1, F2, and F3 winds (Figure 10a) and storm surges (Figure 10b), the spatial coverage of this study area consists of 775 counties over 22 states (Figure 10c). The list of coastal counties defined in this study is set out in Appendix A. A correction has been made to Section 3.2. At-Risk Populations in the Hurricane-Prone Coastal Counties, Figure 10 (Caption): Original: Figure 10. (a) The coastal counties affected by wind damage according to the Fujita scale (F0, F1, F2, and F3); (b) the coastal counties affected by storm surges; (c) the 777 hurricane-prone coastal counties defined in this study. Corrected: Figure 10. (a) The coastal counties affected by wind damage according to the Fujita scale (F0, F1, F2, and F3); (b) the coastal counties affected by storm surges; (c) the 775 hurricane-prone coastal counties defined in this study. A correction has been made to Section 4. Discussion, Paragraph 1 and Paragraph 2: Original: As a result, 777 counties were found to comprise the hurricane at-risk zones that have experienced at least one instance of hurricane damage over the last six decades. Corrected: As a result, 775 counties were found to comprise the hurricane at-risk zones that have experienced at least one instance of hurricane damage over the last six decades. Original: The current study proposed the geographical extent of 777 hurricane-prone coastal counties that border the Gulf of Mexico and the eastern Atlantic Coast of the United States, excluding the Pacific Coast (Appendix A). Corrected: The current study proposed the geographical extent of 775 hurricane-prone coastal counties that border the Gulf of Mexico and the eastern Atlantic Coast of the United States, excluding the Pacific Coast (Appendix A). A correction has been made to Appendix A (title): Original: Appendix A. Hurricane-prone coastal counties (n = 777) along the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf Coasts defined in this study. Corrected: Appendix A. Hurricane-prone coastal counties (n = 775) along the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf Coasts defined in this study.
