Abstract

To what extent can and does the market challenge marginalizing historical socio-cultural categorizations? This study explores how India’s caste system is being challenged by the market and neoliberal reforms, focussing on how a new middle-class Dalit population, previously marginalized as the lowest caste, challenge Indian society’s status-quo.
