Abstract

An examination of the phenomenon of retelling classic stories for children using 'Pilgrim's Progress' as a case study. The article looks at retellings by Enid Blyton and Geraldine McCaughrean and the surprising success of the latter's recent version, asking how far this reflects a growing trend for religious groups to interact with children's literature.
