Data Access Statement: All datasets used in this paper are freely available online. The ILCI values and the englacial reflectors along the shear margin are published alongside the paper at https://doi.org/10.25405/data.ncl.23708511.v1 (Sanderson et al., 2023). The UK Polar Airborne Geophysics Data Portal hosts SEGY files of RES data for the AGAP North survey (https://www.bas.ac. uk/project/nagdp/, Bell et al., 2011), whilst the National Snow and Ice Data Centre contains BedMachine (Morlighem et al., 2020) data (containing bed elevation, bed topography and ice thickness infor mation) at http://nsidc.org/data/nsidc-0756, as well as ice-surface velocity data from MEaSUREs (Mouginot et al., 2019) at https: //nsidc.org/data/nsidc-0754/versions/1.
