Abstract

A research workshop was held on 25th August 2021 for researchers and academics from SIT and NU to come together (via zoom) to discuss about the future of urban farming and shared challenges for the UK and Singapore. Twenty-five colleagues registered and participated in the workshop. The workshop began with personal introductions, namely the research interests of the respective participant, followed by a series of short presentations from some NU and SIT participants. Thereafter, a roundtable discussion was held to explore and identify areas of importance and grant opportunity. The discussion touched on several topical interest which distillates into the following five areas: crop health and diseases, engineering the environment, value chain and farming eco-system, policy and social issues, and digital farming. These five areas in turn helped to shape the discussion on suggestions for future collaborations, which could be categorised into the following: digital farming, infrastructure, policy and social issues, value chain, growth media & emerging technology.
