Account of two-week workshop for 14 international artists at AB Gustavsberg factory, Sweden. From the industrial perspective, the article links the workshop's ethos with the ideas of Wilhelm Kage the company's art director from 1917-1949 who sought to integrate art, craft and manufacturing processes. From the aesthetic viewpoint, it discusses the work produced in relation to Duchamp's conceptualism and the issues raised around authenticity, replication, individual interventions and standardised functionalism. The relationship between production and display, historical and postmodern forms is also considered in relation to the rapid translation of works produced from the factory to an exhibition at the Gustavsberg Porcelain Museum.
