Abstract

© 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd. Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS) is set to revolutionize future wireless networks, particularly in Device to Device (D2D) communication. Its unique intelligence lies in dynamically reshaping signal propagation and enhancing network performance. The proposed model ensures receivers in a D2D network are accessible only through strategically placed IRS elements, optimizing signal propagation and coverage. Simulations demonstrate the solution's effectiveness, enhancing communication for Information Users (IUs) and energy harvesting for Energy Users (EUs) while meeting SINR constraints. Our efficient algorithms tackle the non-convex problem, enabling exclusive transmission of information signals from the AP to serve both IUs and EUs with improved performance.
