Abstract

© 2024 Elsevier Inc.The factors determining levels of pathogenic mitochondrial DNA in cells and tissues are critical to disease pathology but remain poorly understood and contentious. In Nature, Kotrys et al. published a single-cell-based analysis casting fresh light on this thorny problem and introduced a powerful new investigative tool.
