Abstract

A performance built around the knowledge shared in the 13 issues of TALKER published to date. TALKER is an interview zine about performance. Since 2016, it has featured conversations with the artists Ian White, Kate Valk, Richard Maxwell, Sue Tompkins, Dora GarcĂa, Spalding Gray, Kathy Acker, Jo Fong, Paul Maheke, Clifford Owens, Gustav Metzger, Barby Asante, Miranda July and Agus Nur Amal PMTOH.Using two document cameras and two portable record players, within A Flickering Space a collaged story of the process of meeting and interviewing performance-makers is told. A detail from each interview is shared as an action, marking these diverse insights into liveness in new ways. As the actions accumulate, a constellation of performance knowledge is drawn out that explores how a publication can become a live and generative space.
