© 2025 The Author(s) 2025.A 31-year-old Nigerian woman with Fitzpatrick skin type VI presented to the dermatology clinic at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne, with a 4-year history of recurrent clusters of papulovesicles primarily affecting the armpits, waist and thighs. The blisters were intensely itchy with a tendency to burst upon scratching, with residual hyperpigmented patches. The patient reported that the blisters initially appeared while she was in Nigeria and persisted upon her relocation to the UK. Physical examination revealed a symmetrical rash involving the flexural areas and buttocks, consisting of annular lesions with a well-circumscribed line of small blisters (Figures 1 and 2). A few small pustules were noted on the buttocks. Widespread postinflammatory hyperpigmentation was observed. There was no mucosal membrane involvement, and the Nikolsky sign was negative. Routine laboratory tests were within the normal range.
