Abstract

In this paper, the new editorial team for The Geographical Journal clarify the focus of the journal on geographies in the public interest by rearticulating the journal’s role as an important platform for discussion and debate on a range of pressing global issues affecting various publics. In sharpening the focus of the journal, we encourage prospective authors to foreground the public issue(s) focused upon within their submission and the reasons why such a focus is timely and important, alongside the geographical theories, concepts or debates with which their work engages. We invite contributors to reflect on the different publics to which their paper speaks, the methodological opportunities or challenges of their work, and/or the broader impacts ensuing from their study.
