© 2026 IEEE. The rapid adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) is making it a key part of smart applications in areas like smart cities, manufacturing, and healthcare. A major challenge is ensuring these autonomic IoT applications are resilient, i.e., able to handle uncertainties and faults in the IoT ecosystem. To address this, we propose the Framework for Resilient Autonomic Internet of Things (FRAIT). FRAIT has two components: fault identification, using rule-based methods to detect IoT data faults, and fault correction, using Variational AutoEncoders to fix detected faults. We evaluated FRAIT on a real-world parking dataset, collected over one year. Results show that FRAIT can rectify 60%-100% of detected faults, improving resilience and enabling IoT systems to handle uncertainties effectively.
