Summary: It has been very difficult to provide 'ecological education', especially in the urban area in Japan. Consequently, a biotope method has been planned for children's play and ecological education in Iki-minami primary school in Fukuoka city, Kyushu, Japan. In this paper, it was proposed that the workshop be used as process planning taking on the biotope idea in the children's drawings based on knowledge gained through the 8 workshops. It is discussed that it is very important to provide the children with accurate and new knowledge of ecology. Moreover, it is necessary that the children and teachers participate in the biotope planning from an early stage of the planning.
