The book recovers the work of four once popular and admired women writers whose work is now largely neglected. It looks specifically at the way fiction for children sheds new light on some aspects of Victorian domestic life. My Introduction sets the scene and considers the contribution the text makes to scholarship in the areas of children's literature and Victorian studies.
