Base Station antenna arrays are a promising method for providing significant capacity performance increases for third generation multimedia cellular mobile radio systems. By determining the Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) of a desired user the Base Station can exploit the spatial dimension known as Space Division Multiple Access. Many eigendecomposition methods are popular for their high-resolution properties in DOA estimation but are also known to be of high computational demand. This paper presents a Space-Time receiver structure using an alternative iterative DOA method based on conventional Beamforming with reduced computational complexity.
