Abstract

The weakly coordinating onions {C6F4-1,2-[B(C6F5)2] 2(μ-OR)}- (R = CH3, C6F5) were prepared as their trityl salts (2-OR) and fully characterized. Stoichiometric reactions with Cp2ZrMe2 yield dimeric (3-OR) or monomeric (4-OR) metallocenium ions; the latter are highly effective cocatalysts for ethylene polymerization. © 2000 American Chemical Society.
