The process of ridding water of e-coli contamination using photoelectrochemical treatment by titanium dioxide was presented. The advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) was developed as an alternative for water treatment due to undesirable effects of chlorination. Hydroxyl radicals generated at the surface of titanium dioxide were used in the process for killing bacteria and oxidise organics.
