A pure rotation transition in H2+ was measured between levels close to dissociation where significant electric dipole intensity results from ortho-para mixing caused by the hyperfine Hamiltonian. The frequency of the transition showed excellent agreement with the value predicted by Moss, and the intensity is consistent with the theoretical value.
