Two sets of towing tank experiments using a flat plane are presented to demonstrate that a PDMS foul release system has less drag than a typical SPC antifouling when initially applied. In the first experiment, the reduction in drag could be correlated with the surface roughness. In the second the roughness of the foul release system is higher than that of the SPC antifouling.
