Abstract

Torque control of marine transverse-flux propulsion machines was described. The method was generalised for any separately excited synchronous, permanent magnet or reluctance machine, including axial flux machines (AFM) and transverse flux machines (TFM). The scheme was designed to always maximize the torque and current ratio. The scheme ensured that the maximum amount of torque is produced for the minimum amount of current for a given machine throughout its operational region.
