Abstract

A group of researchers from University of Newcastle upon Tyne carried out extensive research in developing novel microporous polymers for a variety of applications. In one application, waste gasification process for generating electricity uses microporous polymers to remove toxic emissions. The group used beads of the microporous polymer to immobilize bacteria in a fixed-bed column bioreactor for degrading phenol.
