The πs have it: An unusual 2:1 areneperfluoroarene π complex is formed between 1,4-bis(phenylethynyl)benzene and its perfluorinated analogue, and this is the first example of a non-1:1 complex of this type. The interstack geometry (see picture; red H, green F) is also unusual, as is the complex mesomorphism of this system.
