Abstract

The theatre is presented as a place for inventing and projecting models of the living world and living beings, whose evolution and mutations naturally entrain transformations of theatre. Strategies of individuation, including alienation through virtuoso or exceptional behaviours and acts, are discussed, as are the various “registers of presence” they build in the world of live art. Computerised interfaces and the extended organology they offer are seen as a new resource for developing exceptional theatrical behaviours. Communications tools and environments which privilege collective and collaborative creation are likewise presented as having determinant effects on current and future live art forms.
