Abstract

The synthesis and characteristic properties of a Mo/Ag/Rb heterotrimetallic cluster by a self-assembly reaction, were analyzed. The thioanions of molybdenum(VI) and tungsten(VI) have been used to prepare a structurally diverse range of heterometallic sulfide clusters. It was observed that a series of heterobimetallic dodecanuclear single cage-like clusters can be isolated from the reactions of [Et4N]2 [M2O2S 2edt2], where M = Mo and W. The results show that arrays of metal-sulfur clusters, linked through metal-crown ether complexes, can be formed, introduces a method for synthesizing a new type of metal-sulfur-based clusters under mild conditions.
